Commemorating Scientific Excellence and Industry Engagement
February provided an opportunity to recognize the technical excellence and dedication that define Science Systems and Applications, Inc. (SSAI).

While SSAI is well-known for our scientific leadership, engineering is equally central to our mission. Our engineers have led major engineering contracts and played key roles supporting ongoing programs across multiple agencies. Their expertise includes electrical systems requirements development, systems integration, and Electrical, Electronic, and Electromechanical (EEE) parts processing, ensuring mission reliability, safety, and performance. We congratulated SSAI's Chief Software Engineer Supervisor, Joe Ardizzone, on co-authoring a recent paper highlighting applications of NASA's GEOS-CF global atmospheric composition forecasts, demonstrating the impact of open Earth science data in supporting air quality forecasting and NASA mission objectives. Their contributions reflect SSAI's ability to deliver comprehensive technical solutions that extend far beyond science alone.
Read MoreLast month, SSAI participated in the American Meteorological Society (AMS) Annual Meeting. We would like to thank everyone who visited our booth and engaged with our team. These conversations reinforced the importance of collaboration in advancing meteorology, Earth observation, and environmental intelligence. We appreciated the opportunity to share how SSAI supports our customers and contributes to critical scientific and operational missions.
This month, we congratulated Lawrence Coy, SSAI's Chief Research Scientist, on his recent publication in the Encyclopedia of Atmospheric Sciences (3rd Edition) (Elsevier). Lawrence co-authored "Transport Circulation," a reference entry that explores the critical role of large-scale atmospheric dynamics in transporting air, trace gases, and energy throughout the atmosphere-processes that influence ozone distribution, global weather patterns, and climate systems.

In addition this month, SSAI was honored to support Virginia Aerospace Day in Richmond alongside our partners at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, NASA Wallops Flight Facility, and NASA Langley Research Center. Our leadership team met with legislators to discuss opportunities to strengthen Virginia's aerospace and national security innovation ecosystem, including initiatives to expand the pipeline of aerospace technicians to support the industry's continued growth. We also participated in stakeholder discussions focused on uncrewed systems and advanced air mobility, helping foster collaboration across government, industry, and academia. The day concluded with SSAI proudly co-sponsoring the Virginia Aviation Business Association (VABA) reception, where we connected with leaders across the aerospace community and reaffirmed our commitment to supporting Virginia's aerospace future.

Our continued growth and success are supported by the strong operational foundation we have built as a trusted small business partner. SSAI maintains ISO 9001 certification, a Top-Secret Facility Clearance, a CMMI Level 3 appraisal, and an approved accounting system. These achievements reflect our organizational maturity, commitment to quality, and readiness to support highly complex and secure programs. At SSAI, our engineers and scientists work together to deliver innovative, reliable solutions that support our customers' missions and address global challenges.
