Job Description:
SSAI has several openings for Group Leads (GLs) to support upcoming IDIQ contracts at NASA GSFC. The Group Lead provides project direction to multiple tasks within a project area.  The GL is responsible for recruiting, mentoring, personnel management, and technical, schedule, quality, and cost performance for tasks within the Group.  The GL budgets, monitors, and controls aspects of Group performance to ensure that all projects and tasks are accomplished within the prescribed schedule and cost parameters of the overall contract. The GL interfaces with customers to capture project requirements, obtain feedback on performance, and may work with other Group Leads in managing Group staff and efforts. The GL oversees development of task plans specifying goals, strategy, staffing, scheduling, and allocation of available resources.  The GL directly supervises task leads and works collaboratively with other Department/Group Leads to meet contract objectives. The GL reports to the Program Manager on contract matters, ensures that all deliverables are met, and is responsible for all aspects of quality control in assigned tasks.  The GL is a member of SSAI's Senior Management Team and participates actively in corporate initiatives including Business Development (marketing and proposal efforts), strategic planning, employee mentoring, community support activities, and corporate social functions.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering, math, or physical sciences discipline and 12 years of professional experience, including 3 years of management/leadership of space-related engineering, technological, or scientific development, or equivalent combination of education and expereince
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of a broad spectrum of disciplines involved in engineering and technology support
  • Successful candidate will have experience in contract administration, project planning, personnel selection and management, and progress monitoring and reporting
  • Excellent verbal and writing communication skills are required
  • Broad knowledge of NASA/GSFC projects and missions and Project Management practices and standards
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience in the NASA contracting environment, and NASA engineering programs, strongly desired
  • Experience supporting development of proposals for NASA contracts strongly desired
  • Proficiency with MS Project
