Meet Elisheva (Elli) Pauli

October 06, 2022 SSAI Spotlight Series, SSAI in the News

This month we are lucky to be able to spotlight Elisheva Pauli! Known to most as Elli, she’s always got a smile and an interesting conversation for you when you see her. We found out that she also has a couple of hidden layers to this onion – many of the animal variety! Thanks so much for having this conversation with us Elli!

Where did you grow up?

I was born and in raised in Memphis, TN; Birthplace of the Blues, home to Elvis Presley’s Graceland, and a major hub on the mighty Mississippi River.

Where did you go to school and what was your major?
I have a double B.S. in Marine Science and Geology – compliments four wonderful years at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Fl; and an M.S. in Geology (focus on geo-chemistry) from George Washington University.

What is your current role at work?
I’m a senior technical writer on the SSAI Business Development Team.

What excites you most about your work?
I love the endless variety of knowledge I get to sink my teeth into; the fast-paced, intense environment separated by interim periods of recovery, and most importantly, the fantastic people I work with!

What is your favorite hobby?
I’m a relentless gamer (provided some degree of intelligence is required), an amateur artist, addicted to logic puzzles, an avid reader of eclectic subjects, and most of all – love anything that makes me laugh!

What is the best piece of advice you ever received?
The days go slowly, but the years fly by.  Don’t blink, you might miss it!

Share something that not many of your colleagues might know about you.
I am obsessed with volcanoes.  I think they are one of mother nature’s most spectacular performances.

Tell us a little about your family and/or pets. These are some of the animals that have been in Elli's household over the years. From top to bottom, left to right: Mac, Captain, Apatchy, Oscar and Buster, Peter, Tuki, and Joker and Sunshine
I’ve been married for 23 years, have a beautiful little girl, fantastic friends and colleagues, and a magnificent menagerie consisting of 5 parrots (started with 8, but 3 passed away over the years), 2 dogs, 1 cat (had 4, but 3 recently passed away), and a chinchilla.

What is the most important lesson you feel you’ve learned?
There’s a time to Hold On and a time to Let Go.  Whether it’s guilt, anger, love, loss, or betrayal… we fight to Hold On and we fight to Let Go.

What do you with your spare time?
Study forensic medicine

Are you a member of any groups or clubs?
I am very active in environmental protection efforts, animal advocacy in general, and dog rescue specifically.

Thank you Elli, for letting us get to know you a bit more and for sharing all those great pictures of your menagerie!
