SSAI Celebrates JPSS-2

Launching of the Joint Polar Satellite System-2 (JPSS-2) The Joint Polar Satellite System-2 (JPSS-2) was launched on Thursday November 10 at 4:49am EST aboard a United Launch Alliance (ULA) Atlas V rocket from the Vandenberg Space Force Base in California. This satellite was developed to help forecasters better predict extreme weather and monitor climate change. JPSS-2 is the third mission to be launched since 2011, with S-NPP and JPSS-1 missions launching in 2011 and 2017 respectively, which still provide crucial environmental data in support weather forecasting and environmental monitoring.


SSAI employees supported one of the key instruments onboard the JPSS-2 mission. They held a launch party at our offices to celebrate the successful launch of the JPSS-2 mission and the calibration and validation efforts since 2000. Thank you for your dedication and excellent support, and GO JPSS-2!
