Earth Observatory recently highlighted the Goddard Landslides Team in an article for their work mapping landslides and working with partners on humanitarian response to the disaster. As part of this effort, SSAI’s own Rachel Soobitsky has established and maintains a connection with World Central Kitchen, which is highlighted in the article. World Central Kitchen is a charity, founded by chef José Andrés, that provides meals in response to humanitarian, climate, and community crises. When disaster strikes, WCK’s Chef Relief Team mobilizes to the frontlines to provide meals to people in need. The WCK team needs accurate and up-to-date disaster data to provide aid to the highest number of people while keeping their team safe. Collaboration with NASA’s disaster coordination team will allow WCK to improve their modeling, adapt in real time, and respond to multiple disasters at once.

Additional information about the response to the earthquakes can be found on the NASA Earth Science Applied Sciences Disasters page.
