Our celebration of female excellence continues as we highlight the incredible talents and stories of our amazing women employees throughout #womenshistorymonth and beyond. Jana Kolassa has been working as a Senior Scientific Programmer/Research Scientist at SSAI for almost 4 years. She has done scientific development with the NASA Global Modeling and Assimilation Office (GMAO) at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. She has also done scientific development of land data assimilation systems with a focus on the dynamic vegetation and carbon and nitrogen cycle components included in the experimental Catchment-CN model. This comprehensive assessment helped shape the influence of land data assimilation, notably soil moisture assimilation, on model prediction accuracy, particularly highlighting its effect on tropical cyclones.
